Once again Amsterdam welcomed the world leaders in Artificial Intelligence; It was a summit full of Ai brains, workshops and insights from the best, Amazon, Google, IBM, and Facebook were among the guest. I had the chance to meet brilliant people, amazing startups and even took the opportunity to chat with Prof. Gary Marcus about the state of the art in Ai and his view on the hype around it. I even got his book signed!
Here are some short takeaways of two days full of tech, entrepreneurs and learnings from the AI world leaders.
How AI is transforming business?
By gaining competitive advantage (new business models!), reduce cost of operations and remove headcounts.
AI will impact the future of work:
Despite being divided, the industry believes that more jobs might be being created than lost due to the implementation of AI systems. Retail and Transportation among the most disrupted industries.
AI and Education:
Artificial Intelligence is transforming education thanks to tailor and personalized programs. Learning objectives, approaches, content, and tools are optimized for each learner boosting the learning curve.
AI for consumer brands, retailers and customers:
AI offers brands a deep and profitable relationship with customers. Those same customers could use AI to screen out brands that don’t reflect their needs, values or purpose. The opportunities and challenges for customer-facing companies are great. Here will rise a challenge for brands that are excluded from the algorithms to champ themselves back into the influence sphere of their customers.
AI enabling creative superpowers:
Jobs requiring social, emotional and high creative intelligence are at the lowest risk of displacement.
Thanks to the cost-savings from implementing AI systems, employers can focus on upskilling their current employees.
AI and transportation:
Sit tight and fasten your seatbelt. AI boosts performance and efficiency, it also improves the safety and working conditions of employees but represents the biggest threat to their jobs by taking over repetitive, dangerous and difficult tasks.
Self-driving technology it's the biggest opportunity for the industry and the main barriers to AI adoption are the high cost, lack of talent and lack of trust.
Last words:
More decision-makers in the boardroom are gaining a better understanding of what AI can really offer, the opportunities for business that start to implement Ai strategies are huge and will definitely give the lead among their competitors.
